When attempting to install The Exam Simulator, the InstallShield wizard may generate a message indicating that
The installation package cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service. You must install a Windows Service
Pack that contains a newer version of the Windows Installer service.
This indicates that the wrong version of the Windows Installer service is installed on your machine. Windows Installer
is a standard technology used by software companies worldwide, and is written and maintained by Microsoft. While ultimate
responsibility for the resolution of this problem lies with Microsoft, the following procedure may assist you:
- Remove The Exam Simulator CD-ROM from your computer.
- Reboot your computer.
- Place The Exam Simulator CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive and allow it to install.
If this procedure does not solve your problem, you may need to manually update the Windows Installer Service
on your computer.
- For Windows 95 and Windows 98: Double-Click Instmsia.exe on The Exam Simulator CD-ROM, then repeat the procedure described above.
- For Windows NT 4.0: Double-Click Instmsiw.exe on The Exam Simulator CD-ROM, then repeat the procedure described above.
If you continue to have this problem after manually updating the Windows Installer service, please contact Microsoft
