Runtime Error T4003 - Error 75: Path/File Access Error
There exist several special scenarios where The Exam Simulator may generate one of the following error messages:
  • Runtime Error 75 - Path/File Access Error
  • Runtime Error 76 - Path Not Found

Scenario #1

When The Exam Simulator is installed on a machine where the Program Files folder is not located on the computer's "C" drive, The Exam Simulator may generate this exception. Early versions of The Exam Simulator did not handle this scenario properly.

If working Internet access is available, The Exam Simulator technical support staff can grant to the user permission to download a copy of The Exam Simulator setup program that corrects this problem. Working Internet access is required, as discless versions of The Exam Simulator must be registered before use.

If working Internet access is not available, The Exam Simulator technical support staff can ship to the user a new copy of The Exam Simulator CD-ROM that corrects this problem.

Scenario #2

When The Exam Simulator is installed on a secured Windows NT, Windows 2000, or Windows XP workstation, the account under which The Exam Simulator is being used may not have permission to write to the directory containing The Exam Simulator.

Early versions of The Exam Simulator persisted information to files in this directory and must have write access to this directory. If organizational security policies prohibit granting write access to this directory, an updated copy of The Exam Simulator must be obtained.

Current versions of The Exam Simulator do not require write access to this directory. It should be noted, however, that the user will be unable to take advantage of The Exam Simulator's adaptive learning technology if write access is denied to this directory.

If working Internet access is available, The Exam Simulator technical support staff can grant to the installing user permission to download a copy of The Exam Simulator setup program that corrects this problem. Working Internet access is required, as discless versions of The Exam Simulator must be registered before use.

If working Internet access is not available, The Exam Simulator technical support staff can ship to the user a new copy of The Exam Simulator CD-ROM that corrects this problem.

Scenario #3

The Exam Simulator files may have been moved from their original location on your computer's internal hard disk. The Exam Simulator files must remain where the InstallShield wizard places them. If you or someone else has attempted to move files related to The Exam Simulator, you must uninstall and reinstall the software to correct the changes that have been introduced.

Scenario #4

Your computer's internal hard disk and/or registry may have become corrupted. Given enough time, all computers will experience some form of data loss or corruption as a result of hardware failure or viral infection. It is possible that your computer may be suffering from the results of such an event. If this is the case, the problem you are experiencing is unrelated to The Exam Simulator and is likely negatively affecting your computer in other ways as well. In these situations, we recommend that you seek professional computer assistance. You will need to uninstall and reinstall The Exam Simulator once your computer has been fixed.

Note: The Exam Simulator CD-ROM is scanned for all known viruses, trojans, and worms prior to manufacturing. If your computer is infected with any known virus, you may rest assured that The Exam Simulator CD-ROM is NOT the source of the infection.
